Empa team presents advances in MgO-based Cement at RILEM Spring Convention 2025

RILEM Spring Convention 2025

A small team from Empa participated in this year's RILEM Spring Convention, held in Mendrisio. During the session on innovative cementitious composites, the group presented their latest research on MgO-based cement.

Raphael Kuhn shared insights into the rheological behavior of MgO-based cement and clays, highlighting how alkali phosphate admixtures can be used to control and enhance these properties.

Ellina Bernard presented a comparative study between MgO-based cement-stabilized earth systems and traditional Portland cement stabilization techniques.

Siham Mouhtadi elaborated on how the porosity of MgO-based cement can be monitored over time using ¹H NMR.

Charlotte Dewitte showcased the impact of additives on the mechanical properties of M-S-H.

Many thanks to the organizers of the RILEM Spring Convention for hosting such an inspiring and well-organized event.
