Dr. Ellina Bernard
Group Leader of Waste Valorisation
Dr. Bernard's research focuses on the hydration, stability, strength, and durability of potential alternative materials derived from clays and/or cementitious materials. Her research interests primarily focus on the hydration/carbonation mechanisms and kinetics of the reactions, as well as the structures, compositions, surface properties, and stability of the phases that comprise such binders. Dr. Bernard uses advanced characterisation techniques, including synchrotron analysis and solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, as well as thermodynamic modelling.
