Participation at Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) conference, 2025

Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) conference, 2025

This year’s edition of the Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) conference took place in Zürich. During the session titled "Developments in Sustainable Materials: Low-carbon Cement and Concrete", Raphael Kuhn from Empa presented their latest advancements in clay stabilization.

In his talk, he provided insights into the hydration reactions of MgO–silicate binders within clay systems. He discussed how these reactions influence the early-age mechanical properties of stabilized clay, highlighting their potential to support the development of low-carbon construction materials.

The excellently organized conference provided an ideal platform for experts in the field of sustainable built environment to exchange ideas, share research, and foster collaboration. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the organizing team from the Institute of Construction & Infrastructure Management at ETH Zurich for their outstanding efforts in hosting this valuable and well-executed event.
