Maciej Delekta

PhD Student

Maciej Delekta is a PhD student at the Geology Institute, Bern University. He is involved in researching of cement hydration phases for the development of novel cementitious materials. Specifically, his focus is on the characterization of M-S-H (magnesium silicate hydrate) as a potential ion immobilizer in concrete used for nuclear waste geological repositories. This is crucial for advancing environmentally friendly binders. Mg cements, and their hydration products are expected to mitigate the spread of toxic ions from waste.

He specializes in material chemistry, focusing on the utilization of various synthesis techniques for product characterization and modification of its properties. He is experienced in various technics, including FTIR, TGA, ICP-OES, DSC, SEM-EDS.
