Jiaxing Ban

PhD Student

Jiaxing Ban is a PhD student at Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) and UniBern, Institute of Geological Sciences focusing on the fundamental research of Fe-doped hydrotalcite in Mg cementitious material. Specifically, He studies the crystallographic mineralogy properties from the aspect of fundamental molecular scale and the redox of Fe(II)/(III) sites under alkaline conditions. The aim is to elucidate the thermodynamic models for Fe-hydrotalcite solid solutions, the transformation pathways between Fe(II) and Fe(III) sites, and the immobilization mechanisms of the redox-sensitive anions.

His field is cement chemistry and electrochemistry. His work involves the studies of mineralogy properties, stabilization and solidification, phase assemblage, redox behavior, and microstructure research based on the synchrotron facilities. He is skilled in chemistry and characterization, especially in XRD, FTIR, TGA, ICP-OES, and XAS.
