Dr. Dengquang Wang

Postdoctoral Researcher

Dengquan Wang is currently employed as a PSI-FELLOW supported by MARIE SKŁODOWSKA-CURIE fellowship, at Laboratory for Waste Management at Paul Scherrer Institut and a guest scientist at Empa. He studied at Tsinghua University to obtain his bachelor's degrees and a PhD and worked there as a postdoctoral researcher ("Shuimu Tsinghua Scholar"). In his former research, he initially studied structural mechanics but then set foot in an interdisciplinary domain of waste management and cement chemistry. Currently, he employs cutting-edge techniques such as synchrotron-based characterizations, advanced thermodynamics, and molecular modeling, aiming to gain an atom-scale understanding of the binding of toxic anions in cement-based materials.

His field is cement chemistry and geochemistry. His current work involves the studies of the retention of LDH phases, including Fe-doped hydrotalcite and AFm phases, on toxic anions. He is skilled in conventional in-lab characterization methods, cutting-edge synchrotron-based techniques, and thermodynamic modelling.
